I have a 72 Roadster and it's a bear to start. Once it's running and warm it runs great. What do I need for a tune up and do you think a carb kit is in order? Does anyone know off hand what model engine I should have (it's original)? Thanks for your help

The original motor was a Tecumseh HS-40. There are many reasons it's hard to start. If it runs pretty good when it's warm, and the choke is working right, you may need more than a tune up. Low compression is my first thought, provided the spark is good and the timing is correct. RuppParts.com can supply you with anything you need. Drop them a note.

Original 72 Rupp Roadster2 engine will be: HS40 55388C
I stock replacement parts that are correct if you ever need anything...I'm more than happy to help. Points, condensors, coils, spark plugs and carbs are the biggest culprits of running problems.
Remember aftermarket tune up parts and carbs may save you a dollar or 2 on initial purchase but can give $100 worth of grief when trying to diagnose a problem cause by them later on in time. Correct for your engine Tecumseh brand parts are best for durability and quality and always in stock here
