Since no one else has posted here I guess I'll start. I just picked up a 72 Hustler @ a garage sale. Missing TC, seat & fenders. Tank in rough shape. However, HS-40 runs good, and frame is very good. Very little rust. Wheels are somewhat rusty. Got most of the parts together and am painting the frame and tank today.
Also got a 72 Scrambler to get to as soon as the Hustler's done, (traded an Arctic cat Prowler for it).
Question: Has anyone ever tried using a Mikuni 26 or 28 on the 4 or 5 HP Tecumseh. Is it too much carb? I've run them on Briggs 5 HP's, and they work real good.

Hemiman, I've heard that someone got a 28mm Delorto on a 5 HP to work, but..... the engine had to be built up. Tecumseh's have a tendency to throw the connecting rod if over-rev'd too much. I understand they used billet connecting rod, cam's, high perf head gaskets etc etc.
The Blackwidow carb is 19 mm. It may be best to stay around that size.
Joe at J-L Vintage sales said he was going to discontinue selling the billet rod's due to high manufacting costs attributed to low volume sales. Last I heard, he still had the H.P. head gaskets. You may want to check out Go-kart sights for racing parts.
