Hey all,
I have a question to ask. I just bought a new 5hp short block for my Hustler from J&L and was debating on weather I should Paint the motor or leave it bare and strip the head. I would then re-paint all of the pieces that are attached to the motor.
What do you think??
Or should I just paint everything like the sotck bike!

If you leave the block bare make sure to have it clear powdercoated for easy cleaning and show quality. Rando.

Superhawk, welcome aboard! The choice of painting or raw aluminum is your choice. if you plan on redoing the bike and keeping it's original appearance then paint the block, and body work all your tin work and prime it. Then install all your tinwork and paint the motor as a competed assembly as it was done when new. This would give you the "original" look to you bike. The motor will not be happered with temperature problems if painted black as it originally came. Just my 2 cents!

Hey guys,
Thanks for the info!! I just got my HS50 short block from JL the other day so I will begin the disassembly today and figure out the rest of the parts that I need for my resto! This Hustler has been in the family since it was new so it will be good to have it up and running again.
Thanks for the replies. Super
