I know it is a Roadster as I have the owners manual. It states the model as 71 Roadster. It has a tail light base but most of it is missing. There is a kill switch/light switch with wires cut and a single wire protruding from the recoil cover. Also matching scratch marks where it appears the light must have rubbed when it came loose. I could use a wiring harness (I have the diagram) along with the complete headlight assy. As much as the parts, I could use some engine advise. How would be best to start restoring this tired motor. Model numbers are HS40-552828 or HS40-55252B ...Serial number 0260-05110. After more research, I now realize I will probably have to bore out the motor oversize to remove the grooves in the cylinder wall and then when I know the resized bore, replace both the piston, and rings. I am not sure how to do a valve job or if this will be necessary. Please advise if this is going to cost me more than buying an engine.
The muffler pipe is missing the 2 hole flange (is this the manifold?) that fits over the enf of the pipe where it attaches to the engine. Do you have this part? Would it be possible to get a digital picture of what the throttle linkage is supposed to look like, springs etc. This mini has the diaphragm-type carb and has been rebuilt. I would like your opinion on this type carb. Would a float type work better? what would be the cost difference between the different carbs including the Deltoro. This is becoming a very fun project for me and my sons. Help!! any one have any advice?

I have pretty good luck identifying Rupps's by sight, would it be possible to email a digital image of your bike to me at natpkg@address.com
if not able to send picture, tell us more about the bike. do the front forks have internal springs? is it original color? does the frame paint color match the gas tank? does it have a headlight? is there a front and rear brake? what size wheels does it have, and are they wire or mag style? as much info as possible in these areas would help for identification.
your serial number would suggest a bike made between '71 and '73. model and year could be narrowed down with more info. although i am leaning toward an enduro model with the number provided.
regarding serial numbers, i have a list compiled but am always looking for more for the purpose of identification of these great lil bikes. my list is not large but unfortunately i have not found any other list available. all those fellow rupp owners that would like to help with serial number submissions are welcome to contact me by email at the above address. please include either your bike details or a digital pic so i can keep the list organized. if anyone does know of any official serial number list that is available please let me know.
