HI, TO ANYONE WHO CAN HELP?!?!? MY DAD BOUGHT A ROADSTER WHEN I WAS A KID. THE 1972 VERSION LOOKS LIKE HOW I REMEMBER IT. SPOKES, RED REAR FENDER, CHROME HEADLIGHT, RED PAINTED FRAME, ETC. CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THIS IS THE STOCK DESCRIPTION OF A 1972 ROADSTER? I SAW A PICTURE OF ONE & IT LOOKS EXACTLY HOW I REMEMBER - BUT I JUST WOULD LIKE TO BE SURE. ALSO, IT WAS STOLEN FROM WHERE WE KEPT IT IN OUR BARN IN BAYFIELD,COLORADO. SO, I WAS WONDERING IF THERE IS SOME WAY I COULD TRACE THE BIKE BECAUSE, FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND - RUPP'S CAME WITH A chestLE?!?! I WAS JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE KNEW HOW I COULD FIND OUT IF IT WAS REGISTERED IN MY DADS NAME. I'M SURE IF WE HAD A chestLE THEN MY DAD WOULD HAVE REGISTERED IT! ESPECIALLY BECAUSE, WE HAD PLATES ON IT. ANYWAY, I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO LOCATE IT, SO IF ANYONE COULD HELP ME I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT! I WOULD PAY WHATEVER I COULD TO GET IT BACK. I KNOW IT'S A LONG SHOT BUT, WHAT THE HECK! PHONE # = (847)740-1669 OR EMAIL ADRESS IS valladeb3@aol.com. THANK YOU, VALL.

Vall, Not all Rupps Roadsters had chestles. But if you are sure it had plates, then contact you're state's dept of motor vehicles and explain situation to them. They should be able to give you the info. The serial numbers where on a tag/sticker under the seat, up thru 73 or 74. In 73 or 73 they stamped them on side of seat pan (TC side, behind shock mount). My 71 R2 had no sticker when I got the frame (original Purple frame bike). My friend just picked up a 73 or 74 frame and in the cleaning off of a couple layers of paint we found stamped the serial #'s. Paint scheme's; 71's had frames painted to match tank & fenders. Sometime in '72 they started using black frames with only the tank & rear fender painted. Story goes that they had leftover Black Widow frames from 71 and used them up on the other models. Could be a cost saving move also. In 73 or 74 they changed paint schemes to have stripes on rear and front fender. Good luck trying to find the bike. They are rare and easily sold for parts on EBAY.
