I have a roadster 2 don't know what year. The Bike needs a whole new brake system new throttle cable and it needs a new clutch spring because the one thats on it now only runs when you are pulling on the throttle otherwise its to week to let the bike idol meaning that you also have to start it holding the throttle (not the safest bike). I also would like to have a new throttle adjustment because its pretty hard to ride because I have to keep it pretty much floored. My lights only work while I have the throttle pulled back. If anyone could answer any of these questions it would be a big help because my bike has a lot of them.

Will try to answer what I can. Do you need whole brake system or just shoes, cables and levers?? Watch Ebay or contact J-L Vintage sales. ( www.jl-sales.com ) Joe has the correct parts (no guessing) and ships quickly. Also, a lot of the Rupp componets are used by other minibike so you should be able to find what you need. Check the lawn mower shops that also sell go-carts, sometimes you can get stuff there. Second, is your clutch sticking?? Your post doesn't say so but almost sounds like it. They have a tendency to get diry and then the sliding parts don't move as easy as they should. Before you go buying clutch stuff, I suggest you take it apart and clean it. Be careful, it is under spring tension. Only use a dry lube, but not graphite (which is both slippery and abrasive). Oil, grease and WD-40 will make the dirt stick and cake on the parts (dirt is also abrasive). Also check the Driven pulley, it should be under spring tension but you should be able to move it with a bit of muscle (don't use tools). The belt should be all the way out on the driven at idle. Another thing to look at is the belt, if replaced with non-Rupp belt, it may be too tight. With the std Rupp belt, the engine should be in the holes on the mounting plate and NOT the slots. If it's a non-Rupp belt, you may have to use the slots and add spacers (washers) to get proper alignment. (yes, the pulleis must be parallel). When sized correctly, there should be a 1/8 to 3/16 inch gap at the clutch shaft when the belt is squeezed. see: www.gokartsupply.com/tcbelts.htm for a picture 1/3 to 1/2 way down the page. IF THE CLUTCH is not sticking, and you are using the choke correctly, then your carb may need adjusting or cleaning. Could be either the low speed mixture adjustment, or too low of an idle, or the low speed mixture path is clogged (common problem). There are a couple of post that tell how to do the adj'ing so I won't fill this page with repeated info. Email me if you can't find it. The lights on a Rupp dim at idle. But, if the brake light is also on, they are very dim. My fireinds all original R2 had the same problem. Turns out the o-ring in his brake switch was gone and the contacts were hitting each other. Hope this helps, keep us posted. T-Mack1
