hey guys - i'm chris. i just picked up a hustler at an auction and know nothing about these cool little machines. i'm looking forward to restoring it for my son to ride but don't know where to find parts. are complete rebuild kits available for the hs40? what about putting a new motor on it? what's the best route to go? also, are there any good books or websites out there to learn about rupps in general as well as the differences between the different models and history of them and such? i'm intrigued and very interested in getting educated about these bikes. any help is greatly appreciated. email is eagle53581@yahoo.com - thanks!!

Chris, Congrat's on getting a Hustler. For info on Rupp mini-kbikes see www.ruppbikes.com/ . As for parts, the uniquely Rupp parts can be found on Ebay by searching for "rupp" or go to website www.jl-sales.com/ . The later has great parts at prices that reflect quality. Great service and very fast delivery. Good thing about Rupp's is that they used a lot of standard parts. For the HS40 engine. Go to your local lawn mower shop. I just rebuild a 1974 HS40 and paid around $60. Got a connecting rod ($25), rings, seals (generic set) and a carb rebuild kit (also generic). You'll need the model & serial number when you order the parts. Also, the dealer wanted $37/hr to rebuild it and said it would take about 4 hours. T-Mack1

Hello Everyone! I just joined the forum. I have a Rupp Scrambler circa, 1970. I bought it from my older brother in 1971. Rode it a few years until my Father's fat partner blew the engine. I had it in storage since. I want to completely restore it to showroom quality. I know all about J-L, but he only wants to deal on the phone, I can't get any price quotes otherwise. Do you fellas think he's okay?
