[glow=red,2,300]TEXT[/glow] I am putting a '68 TT500 together for some amusement...I am having some troubles with the throttle cable and twist grip...I have a 3hp Briggs on it now. If anyone wants to send pics of their throttle set up, mainly how to keep the cable in the twist grip (the sleeve) It would be appreciated. On another note....I learned this weekend that it is important to always have handlebars and throttle control while riding. On its maiden voyage, I rode without handle bars, steering from the fork, with the throttle stuck wide open directly into a curb, and in the crash, the clutch tore an 8" gash in my knee....and on to the emergency room I went. eprosise@iastate.edu

If you are using the original twist grip assembly from Rupp, you are probably missing the ferrule that fits between the cable housing and the lower twist grip body. Contact Joe at J+L sales, or Jim at Blackwidow Motorsports for the ferrule. They are both Rupp parts suppliers.

Other possibilites: Return spring on engine is not large enough, so when you turn down throttle, it's not pulling back. This was happening with my son's minibike which has a Briggs. A visit to hardware store solved problem. You need to maintain tension on the whole cable setup thru whole throttle range. Second, make sure throttle cable is firmly clamped at carb. If it moves around you get similar prob's. Tom M. www.users.fast.net/~tommack/minibike.htm

I personally have never seen a Rupp with a factory B&S engine on it. They are supposed to have Tecumseh engines on them. So, get rid of the Briggs if you want yours to be correct.
