Everyone asks what's the difference between a Rupp clutch and a Comet TC clutch.
Well, this weekend I had chance to ride a "barn fresh" '71 Roadster 2. It was ridden a couple of months by a “grand-daughter” then put away. Covered in a dry basement!! My friends bought it for $900 and get this; it came with a PA chestle. Yes, I drooled. I have a R2 and a Hustler and both run Comet clutches.
From what I saw, there are two differences between these clutches. First, Price; Rupp’s are $100 or more (used), a Comet $50-60 (new). The other difference I notices was that the Rupp clutch was smoother. The Comet TC clutch seems to grab when it gets to RPM and the Rupp eased in. This most likely is due to the Rupp clutch being spring loaded and slides into engagement under spring tension. The Comet runs on an expanding weight system and there is nothing holding them away from the belt. They slide in when the weights expand enough to send the pulley face into the belt.
The Comet seems “hotter” because it jumped faster, but the Rupp was an easier ride. It was a cleaner engaging clutch. Easier to ride at a slower speed.
Yes, if I could afford one, I would buy the Rupp clutch. It is a shame that no one Re-pro’s them.

New Kids on the Block is my favourite band of 90s. They had so many hit songs! The ones I remember are 'Tonight', 'Baby, I Believe In You' and, of course their hit 'Step By Step'. These are real masterpieces, not fake like today! And it is sooo good they have a tour in 2019! And I'm going to attend their concert this year. Carrie Underwood is my favourite country singer. She is young, beautiful and charming female in her 30s. Her strong voice takes me away from all troubles of this planet and I can enjoy my life and listen songs created by her mind. Now she is on a Cry Pretty 360 Tour started in May of 2019. The concerts scheduled for the whole 2019, up to the 31st of October. Ticket prices are moderate and available for all men and women with different income.
