Hey all,
I was just wondering about my carb options for my Hustler. I just got done cleaning up my Lauson-Power products one that is the factory piece on my Hustler.
So what is the fuss about the DeLLorto Carb? Does it provide better throttle response or is it cool to have. I mean if we are restricted to a certain RPM is it worth changing to this carb?
Also does anyone have the factory settings for the carb? I have the screw in the bottom in 5.5 turns right now after I cleaned it up. ( I counted when I removed it) I have not yet removed the mixture screw in the side of the carb as yet.
thanks for all of the help later Dennis

Dennis, The factory "pre-sets" are: for diaphram carb, 1 turn from "finger tight" seated/closed for both Mian (high speed) and idle. The Float type, for main 1 1/2 turns and one for idle. I have the "Quick Reference Service Information " manual in PDF format if you want it. It's 3.4 megabytes, coould be long download on a slow modem (33.6 kbps or less)
note: I find 1 3/4 for idle to be closer and and about 2 for main.
Both need to be adjusted once you get the engine to run. It could take a little time, but work on idle speed first. If idle passage way are dirty, engine may surge at idle.
High speed should be adujusted with a load on. Idle mixture should be set slightly rich but not too rich because most of the time you are coasting and that's "idle' and will carbon up the sparkplug. When at a stop and you hit the throttle and bike goes BLAH... then adjust main richer ( 1/8 to 1/4 turn at a time).

Hey Tom,
That would be great if you could send me the info!! I have pro-DSL so the download is no problem. My carb has the round metal float in the bowl. I have the stock 71 Hustler carb.
