I am restoring several 70's Rupp minibikes and want to know if anyone has powder coated their gas tank? The advantages of powder coating v. paint are durability, fuel proof and low cost (about $40). The problem is that the e-coat paint needs to be cured in an oven for 10 min at 400 degrees which melt all of the lead filler. From what I understand, I have to melt off the lead filler between the mounting bracket and bottom of tank before e-coating. Does anyone know if lead or something else was used to seal around the seam between the upper and lower tank sections? Thanks
